Welcome to the Columbia Basin Chapter

The Columbia Basin Chapter of ARMA recently celebrated it's
30th anniversary.  Chapter members reflect the diversity of
Eastern Washington, but they share a common interest in
improving the quality of records and information management
in their organizations.

Upcoming Chapter Meeting

May 21, 2009

Our May meeting will feature Dave McDermott, Records Manager for J.R. Simplot, and Fran Blaylock, ARMA Region Coordinator.

Dave McDermott’s presentation will arm records managers with information they can use in support of their program when records become an upper management issue.  The management of corporate records and information has not historically been an upper management concern.  However, increased regulation, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, high profile court cases and class-action litigation, have changed the view of records management.  How company records are handled or neglected bears directly on how situations appear to courts, regulators, media, insurers, and shareholders.  When records cannot be produced in the face of impending litigation, or worse, if the information surfaces after discovery, the courts take a dim view of that company’s management of information.

Fran Blaylock will give an update on ARMA International and the Great Northwest Region.
